Questions
Welcome to the High Country. Below are the answers to some of the more frequently asked questions about our rentals and the area. If you need further information, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our friendly staff will be happy to answer your questions to the best of their ability.
Question: Where are you located?
Answer: Fleetwood Falls, Inc. Resort is located in Ashe County, North Carolina.
Question: What are your rental rates?
Answer: Our chalets have a price range of $105 to $145 nightly, and $630 to $870 weekly. We do require a 2 night minimum. The prices remain the same year round, and are based on a 1-4 person occupancy.
Question: Are there additional charges?
Answer: In addition to the base rent, we have a $25.00 reservation charge, $100.00 refundable security deposit, 3% Ashe County Occupancy tax, and 6.75% NC State Sales tax. If you have more than four people in your party, there is an additional $8.00 per person, per night charge.
Question: When do I get my security deposit back?
Answer: Allow 3-4 weeks for the refund of your deposit. Many times we do get it back to you much sooner than that. When you get your deposit returned, you will receive the tax you paid on it back as well, so your total refund check should be $109.75.
Question: What do I need to bring?
Answer: You will need to bring your own bed, bath, and kitchen linens, food, and personal toiletries. Also, remember that in the High Country, summers can be cool, so it's a good idea to bring a long sleeved shirt or light jacket. Proper footwear is a must if you plan to do any hiking. IF YOU COME IN THE WINTER, 4-WHEEL DRIVE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Question: What will the weather be like?
Answer: For a good 5 day forecast, visit http://www.asheweather.com. Generally speaking the winter temperature averages in the 30's and summer's average is in the 70's.
We cannot predict if we will have a snowy Christmas if you call in July, and we cannot ship-in or special-order snow. The best place to get snow on demand would be at one of the many fine ski resorts. We do apologize for any inconvenience this lack of knowledge may cause, but also want to humbly remind you that if we did have that foresight, we would be working in a different field.
Question: What are your methods of payment?
Answer: If your reservation is made far enough in advance, we can split the total cost into two payments. The first would be due within 10 business days after making the reservation by phone, and your second payment is due 21 days before arrival. In this situation we can take personal checks. If your reservation is made later than one month in advance we will need you to mail or pay on arrival with a cashier's check, money order, or cash. If you are paying on arrival you must be here at the office with your payment before 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday. If you are not here, you will not be allowed to check in. We can also take Visa or MasterCard.
Question: What are your check-in and check-out times?
Answer: Check-in is at 3:00p.m. and check-out is 11:00a.m.
Question: What is there to do?
Answer: In the High Country there are many things to do and places to go that will make your vacation a memorable one. We are close to Jefferson & West Jefferson, Boone, Blowing Rock, and Wilkesboro. There are many fine restaurants, golf courses, art galleries, ski resorts and unique shops to enjoy. If the weather is pleasant, the Blue Ridge Parkway is minutes away and no vacation here is complete without a drive on one of America's most scenic roads. Regardless of the season there is always something to do in the great outdoors: biking, tubing, golfing, hiking, skiing, canoeing, rock climbing, snow boarding, and the list goes on.
